The National Federation of Group Water Schemes (NFGWS) is proud to present the Rural Water Services Conference 2026, taking place on Thursday, 10 September 2026, at the Tullamore Court Hotel, Tullamore, Co. Offaly.
Under the theme “Community Solutions for Rural Water Challenges”, the conference will bring together over 300 delegates from across Ireland and Europe to explore the opportunities, innovations and partnerships shaping the future of rural water services.
Recognised as a flagship event for Ireland’s rural water sector, the conference is organised by the NFGWS in partnership with the Local Authority Services National Training Group (LASNTG) and will welcome a diverse audience including government representatives, department officials, group water scheme members, local authority staff, policymakers, academics, educators and environmental stakeholders from organisations.
This year’s programme will feature expert presentations, panel discussions, sectoral updates and information stands, providing delegates with valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing community-managed water services. Discussions will focus on sustainable and resilient rural water infrastructure, policy developments, innovation, climate adaptation and the vital role of communities in delivering high-quality water services. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn from European best practice through contributions from the Alliance of Community-Owned Water Services in Europe (ACOWAS).
As an Associated Event of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026, the conference provides a unique platform to examine rural water challenges within both national and European contexts, highlighting the importance of collaboration between communities, public authorities, researchers and industry in safeguarding water services for future generations.
With a full day of networking, knowledge-sharing and collaboration from 8.45am to 4.00pm, including refreshments, lunch and exhibition opportunities, the Rural Water Services Conference 2026 is a must-attend event for anyone with an interest in the future of rural water services and community-led water management.
