The Winter 2022 edition of Rural Water News is now available to read online. In this issue, there is coverage of the recent Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) report on the quality of drinking water in private supplies during 2021. Although the vast majority of privately-sourced group water schemes were found to be in full compliance with microbiological parameters, the NFGWS supports the EPA’s recommendations to urgently progress solutions on GWSs where exceedances were recorded.
This issues also includes an update on the work to transpose the recast Drinking Water Directive into national legislation by the 12th January 2023 as well as the imminent arrival of a new water abstractions bill which will have an impact on drinking water providers.
Other topics covered include the recent NFGWS workshops on quality assurance, GWS source protection and water conservation projects, and the NFGWS’s recent address to the Citizens’ Assembly on Biodiversity Loss.
