Effective water demand management is a key pillar of a well-functioning group water scheme. From economics to climate change, there are a plethora of reasons why every drop counts. To assist group water schemes in achieving a sustainable levels of water demand — including reductions in 'Unaccounted for Water' (UFW) — the NFGWS has created and introductory guidebook.
Reducing Water Demand on Distribution Systems touches on all areas of water demand management, including steps on how to put in place a water management system, the implementation of active leakage control, network renewal, and member engagement. The digestible guide touches on topics such as water demand assessment, step-testing and infrastructural needs. It is designed as an accessible introduction for new GWS staff in advance of the completion of more detailed training on said areas.
