As part of Rural Water Week 2021, the NFGWS published its Framework for Climate Action on Group Water Schemes.
The impacts of climate change are already beginning to become evident within the sector, with changes in hydrological systems affecting water availability, water quality and water demand. This document aims to encourage and assist group water schemes to become more climate active and climate resilient. It provides an overview of the key areas group water schemes should focus efforts, with a reduction in daily water demand a top priority.
In developing this guidance document, the Federation engaged with the National Plan on Climate Action and the Climate office established by government. The NFGWS has also engaged with SEAI and other statutory and voluntary agencies. To read the full Framework, click here or on the adjacent cover image.
