Preparing a drinking water incident response plan (DWIRP)

All schemes should have in place a plan that can be implemented as soon as a breach of the regulatory standards is reported, or where such a breach is likely (e.g. following a major pollution incident/extreme weather event). An Incident Response Plan should assign responsibility for its implementation to named individuals (such as a manager), or to specific officers and committee members.  An NFGWS step-by-step guide to incident response planning.
