This course is designed to improve the managerial capacity of voluntary boards of management/committees of group water schemes and to make them aware of their responsibilities. While focusing specifically on the management of GWS cooperatives, the course is applicable to the management of all group water schemes regardless of corporate status. It covers issues such as understanding GWS co-ops, the GWS Board of directors, ensuring effective GWS management, GWS planning, employment, health & safety and insurance, communications & leadership, basic accounting and financial information and finally GWS operational management including quality assurance. The course has recently been reviewed and can now be delivered locally to schemes as a half day course or over two evenings.
