With the announcement of a Climate Emergency, the group water scheme sector is committed to doing all in its power to reduce the carbon footprint of the community-owned drinking water sector and to build resilience. To this end, Róisín Dowd Smith has been appointed Climate Action Officer with the NFGWS to plan and co-ordinate a strategy to make group water schemes more energy-efficient and more resilient to meet the challenges of the extreme weather events that will accompany Climate Change.
