The NFGWS has today confirmed that it has already opened discussions with the Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government1 in relation to a revised subsidy that will reflect
equity and fairness for group water scheme members in the context of the recent Oireachtas decision to abolish domestic water charges on public water supplies (Irish Water).
The NFGWS is seeking an immediate meeting with the newly-appointed Minister, Eoin Murphy TD, to progress a successful outcome to these discussions, pending the enactment of the imminent legislation which will give effect to the above Oireachtas decision.
The NFGWS will be advising all group water schemes of any agreement reached following these discussions. Group Water Schemes and their members can rest assured that the principles agreed with the department will guarantee equitable treatment.
